Ancienne bourgeoisie consulaire de Mende, qualifiée noble au XVIIème siècle. On croit, peut-être sans fondement, que le personnage le plus illustre de cette maison est Jean, notaire, était syndic de Mende, en 1522. Antoine, marchand de Mende, épousa Astrugue Dupeyron. Charles, seigneur de Chabannes, acheta, en 1693, la charge de maire de Mende qui avait été créée par édit du roi, et fut installé le 1° avril 1693, < revêtu d'une robe rouge fourée d'hermine >. Il épousa, en 1699, Marie de Chastang, dont il n'eut pas d'enfants, et testa en 1709. Antoine, chanoine de Mende, vendit la terre de Chabannes, en 1714, à Jean Pitot. Jeanne, mariée, le 28 janvier 1701, à Jean-Antoine de Chapelain, seigneur de Trouilhas, Felgeirolles, Redoussas. Elle eut 12.000 livres de dot; Françoise, religieuse visitandine à Riom; Marie-Chaterine, religieuse visitandine à Riom. Pons, avocat, premier consul de Mende en 1583, épousa N. Chevalier.
