Bonne famille connue depuis le début du XVI siècle. Il est fait mention de cette maison dans plusieurs titres et ouvrages publics; elle a produit à diverses époques: Antoine, avocat au présidial d'Angers, fils de Jean, bourgeois d'Angers, mort en 1532 et enterré aux Carmes d'Angers, épouse vers 1540 Guillemette de Montorlier. Un échevin de Nantes en 1598; un auditeur des comptes en 1633. Cette ancienne famille qui a joué un rôle prépondérant dans l'histoire de la noblesse française, a fourni une foule de personnages illustres dès le XIIème siècle. A ce nom, on attribue un signe distinctif de noblesse représenté par le blason que l'on reproduit ci-dessous et qui confirme aussi à travers ses emblêmes, au point de vue historique et héraldique, l'assurance d'une valeur remarquable. Il est fort difficile, pour ne pas dire impossible, de réunir en faisceau toutes les tiges éparses de cette maison.
