Francisco De B., natural de Badajoz, hijo de Francisco de B. y de Catalina Vázquez, con Inés Gallegos, hija de Alonso Yáñez y de María de Llanes, y sus hijos Bernabé y Francisca, nombrado Escribano por decreto de la Compañía de Indias el 30 junio 1577, emprendió viaje a Nueva España el 11 julio 1578 desde el puerto de Sevilla, según consta en el Archivo General de Indias. Por otra documentación procedente del mismo archivo, sabemos que hizo gran fortuna y tuvo dos hijos a los cuales reconoció y dotó en su testamento, por lo que suponemos que es uno de los iniciadores de este apellido en América.
