Antica ed assai nobile famiglia toscana da Firenze propagata, nel corso dei secoli in diverse località del Granducato. L'unione dei due cognomi, Bartoli e Filippi, sembra data dalla discendenza dei Bartoli dalla famiglia Filippi, recante lo stesso stemma: il capostipite sarebbe Gherardozzo di Bartolo di Filippo, lanaiolo, priore nel 1393. Il capo d'Angiò sarebbe un'aggiunta per distinguersi dalla famiglia di origine. Si fanno consorti degli antichi Alberighi Insangati, che sono stati Signori di Castella in Contado, e di Torre nella Città, e si sono anticamente chiamati del Prete. Quattro volte hanno goduto il priorato e hanno provato il quarto per la religione di Malta. Stanno sempre in Villa verso Signa; e sono più fratelli, tutti in bassa fortuna. Famiglia assai antica e nobile.
