Casato noto in Ragusa, Palermo e Mezzoiuso. Un Grandonio, barone di Torrevecchia e di San Silvestro, fu proconservatore di Ragusa, negli anni 1726 e 1734. Un Giuseppe, dottore in leggi, fu giudice della corte pretoriana di Palermo negli anni 1708-9, 1715-16 e giudice del tribunale del Concistoro 1719. Un Ignazio, a 2 luglio 1806, ottenne infeudazione del territorio di Nicolosi. Nell'elenco ufficiale nobiliare italiano è iscritto col titolo di barone di Nicolosi: Rosario Battaglia e Lascari, di Giorgio, di Isidoro; figli: Giorgio e di Giuseppe. Altro ramo. Questa famiglia è un ramo della omonima di Mezzoiuso che, muovendosi dal veneto, si diramò quasi in tutta Italia, ed ebbe personaggi insigni nelle lettere e nelle armi. Ebbe notorietà in Perugia, ove Vincenzo ottenne l'ascrizione a quel ceto nobile, nel 1830. Aveva già avuto nel 1825 il titolo di conte.
