Famiglia, di chiara e provata virtù, detta anche Beccaria, Beccarica o Beccaria, fiorita, nel secolo XVI, a Grognardo, in quel di Acqui. Molti personaggi della famiglia salirono in onore di cariche civili e di signorie feudali, avendo a lungo un primato politico e civile, con numerose signorie, nei territori limitrofi del Ducato di Milano, del Monferrato e dell'Oltrepò pavese. Nel secolo XVI fioriva a Grognardo un Manfredi Beccara richiamo e reminescenza storica dei numerosi personaggi di questo nome del ramo pavese, padre di Domenico e di Lucia e fratello di Guglielmo Beccara. Manfredi risulta già morto nel 1617; come pure Pietro e Pietrino Beccara della linea dei Conti di Grognardo. Parallelamente a Manfredi Beccara e anteriore di circa un cinquantennio a Guglielmo Beccara, viveva un altro Guglielmo, i cui figliuoli Gasperino e Baldassarre "de becherijs" vendevano al nobile Antonio Seghino il 1 agosto 1531 un castagneto in territorio
