Originari di Gressonney-la-Trinitè, i discendenti di tale famiglia, detti Peccoz, emigrarono nella prima metà del secolo XIX in Baviera, ove accumularono notevoli ricchezze introducendovi la fabbricazione dei fili metallici, la lavorazione della latta, del platino, delle lamine per capsule, del ferro, dello zinco, del piombo e del similoro. Carlo ebbe la concessione del titolo di barone del re di Baviera con diploma 17 ottobre 1840, estensibile al fratello Giuseppe Antonio. Questi che era nato a Gressonney il 27 aprile 1808 e che morì ad Ausburg il 24 genn. 1882, fu autorizzato a portare il titolo nel Regno di Sardegna con Patenti 16 aprile 1842, registrate il 16 agosto successivo al controllo generale. I suoi figli, fra i quali il barone Luigi, morto di colpo sul ghiacciaio di Lysioch alla presenza della regina Margherita in una carovana alpinistica il 25 agosto 1894, ottennero il riconoscimento del titolo per Decreto Ministeriale 18
