Família antiga originária do castelo de Monte sotto S. Leo, que foi instalar-se no século XVIII na cidade de Pennabili. Já gozava da nobreza de S. Leão e também na nova pátria foi atribuída a esse nobre conselho, dando vários gonfaloniers como os condes Giacomo e Marino nos anos de 1823, 1824, 1833; de fato, o conde Marino foi designado para fazer parte da delegação heráldica da cidade. É preciso lembrar que Antonio, bispo de Montefeltro, que seguiu o ex-papa Pio VII no exílio; assim como Stanislao, que seguiu Giuseppe Garibaldi desde muito jovem, sendo querido por ele e por sua audácia e porque era o voluntário mais jovem de Montefeltro.
