Antichissima famiglia nota in Valle Taleggio del sec. XII. Appartenente al gruppo delle famiglie consolari: fu alla testa del partito guelfo e insieme con la famiglia Salvioni costruì il castello di Pizzino. Ebbe numerose diramazioni in Bergamo (nobiltà del 1599), in Bassano, ed in Salice. Per la linea del Salice la genealogia continua documentata dal 1392. Alla fine del sec. XIV si trasferì a Lecco, dove Tommaso nel 1479 fu uno dei XXIV del Consiglio di Credenza. Di là nel 1503 la famiglia si trasferì a Sacile, dove Giovanni Battista e Michele ebbero investiture di feudi censuari e nel 14 novembre 1610 furono ascritti a quel Consiglio nobile "per l'onorevolezza ed illustrezza della vita e la nobiltà del sangue", come dice la parte dell'aggregazione. Da allora la famiglia sedette costantemente in Consiglio fino alla sua cessazione (1806). Il dotto monsignore Giovanni fece riedificare la chiesa di S. Rocco in Sacile.
