Por referencias de historiadores de la época y otras averiguadas por Araldis en los archivos registrales de ciudades y otros privados, podríamos afirmar, pero no asegurar, que este escudo u otro muy similar a él, apareció inicialmente desde el siglo XI al XIV, particularmente en la comitiva que acompañaba a los emisarios catalanes de Ramón Berenguer III en las entrevistas de sus aliados imperiales de Federico Barbarroja y de la República de Génova en los pactos contra la República de Pisa en 1.150 a 1.155 que luego fué aliada incondicional. Las referencias de esta familia parecen precisarse con más frecuencia desde el siglo XV al XIX en especial los hechos de la lucha contra la dinastía Napoleónica y la reconstrucción industrial del siglo XIX en Cataluña. Todo ello parece coincidir con la memoria familiar de algunos de los miembros de la rama de la familia Benasar.
