Antica famiglia, originaria di Pisa, dalla quale città passò in seguito in Pescia, ove Benedetto di Benedetto, di Piero, di Francesco, ebbe la carica di gonfaloniere, nel 1488. Giovan Lorenzo, di Michele, fin dal secolo XVII si trasferì a Livorno, sede della famiglia per ragioni di mercatura, ed anche in questa città, i membri di cotal illustre casato, godettero le cariche principali. Felice Gaspero Benedetto, di Lorenzo, e Cesare, di Felice Gaspero, furono insigniti del cavalierato dello speron d'oro. Furono ascritti alla Nobiltà di Pescia con decreto del 12 gennaio 1807. Disc. da Lorenzo di Cesare, di Felice Gaspero, di Lorenzo. Altro ramo. Antica famiglia siciliana, tra le più notabili del Regno, come ben giusta il Mugnos, della quale notiamo: un Andrea Benedetto, notaro di re Giacomo in Palermo nel 1282, il cui figlio, Orlando, fu giurato nell'anno 1329; un secondo Andrea, figlio di quest'ultimo, gentiluomo di re Federico II,
