Pierleone B. fù Secretario maggiore dell'Imperator Federico II. Eustachio fù uno de' suoi figli, che fiorì fra' Cavalieri Theutonici in servigio dell'istesso Imperatore; perloche acquistò la Baronia di Caravaci, che consiste in due feudi agregati allo Stato di Butera; questi fu impiegato dalla medesma Imperial Corona con Angelo B. suo fratello, col Gran Maestro de' predetti Cavalieri, e l'Arcivescovo di Messina insieme per la pace, che seguì fra l'Imperatore, e'l Pontefice Gregorio IX.
