Detta anche Da Malcesine, perchè originaria di questa terra. Veronese Da Malcesine dotto giureconsulto, ebbe un figlio di nome Gaspare, che nel 1455 fu tra' nobili consiglieri di Verona, e poi nel 1476 giudice di Collegio. Giambattista entrò nel 1625 nel Consiglio Nobile con cognome Bentivoglio. Lo stemma della famiglia Bentivogia veronese è così blasonato: D'azzurro, a tre frecce accostate e rovesciate d'argento, sostenute da un zoccolo quadrato di rosso posto sopra una collina di tre cime di verde.
