Originari di Barcellonetta, poi insediatisi in Torino, risalgono, con le prime memorie note, a Giovanni, morto verso il 1630. Suo figlio Giacomo, nato il 22 luglio 1609 e morto il 23 aprile 1693, fu senatore di Piemonte e poi primo presidente del Senato (1680), acquistò dai Mocchia, punti di giurisdizione di Pralormo e ne fu investito con titolo comitale il 9 aprile 1690. Fu il primo di una lunga serie di uomini illustri. Degni di particolare menzione: il conte Filippo Domenico (n. Torino, 17 febb. 1678 e dec. a Torino il 27 apr. 1753), che fu successivamente giudice e conservatore generale delle gabelle (1723), reggente la grande cancelleria di Sardegna (1730), presidente capo del Consolato (1734), primo presidente della Camera dei conti (1744), presidente del Consiglio supremo di Sardegna (1749); il conte Vincenzo Sebastiano (n. a Torino il 23 genn. 1721 e dec. il 4 marzo 1784), che tenne con
