Alcuni genealogisti vorrebbero far risalire questa famiglia ai conti di Provenza, ma si tratta di una leggenda senza fondamento. Però la famiglia è nobilissima e fin dal 1202 troviamo Uguccione fra i consoli della Repubblica senese, e i suoi discendenti parteciparono ininterrottamente al governo della città. Uggero, nel 1270, era tra i XXIV del Reggimento di Siena. Berlinghieri, nel 1280, ristabilì la pace fra le varie consorterie cittadine, che erano venute ad aspra contesa tra loro. Meo e Andrea di Bindo furono provveditori di Biccherna. Giunta fu dottore di leggi famoso; fu fatto conte palatino ed era tra coloro che nel 1539 ricevettero l'imperatore Carlo V nella sua venuta in Siena. Edoardo fu brigadiere generale della Marina sotto il granduca Pietro Leopoldo. Daniello fu preside dell'Università senese; ebbe nel 1807 una commenda di Malta e fu mandato come Ministro alla corte di Francia nel 1826. Furono iscritti fra i
