Antica famiglia di Cotrone, ove godé gli onori del patriziato nel seggio di S. Dionigi. Berteraymo, in considerazione dei servigi resi a re Carlo I, fu ammesso nel possesso della baronia di Torre Montanari e di Palena, in Calabria. Fra i personaggi di quella famiglia meritano di essere ricordati: Anselmo, chiarissimo nella storia della città di Cotrone; Carlo e Scipione eletti nobili del seggio di S. Dionigi nel 1647 e 1663; altro Carlo, capitano di truppe equestri; Giulio, giureconsulto in Napoli; altro Carlo arcivescovo di S. Severino nel 1678, noto per dottrina nel diritto civile e canonico. Nel 1740 fu infeudata di Valle Perrotta cui venne infisso il titolo marchionale, titolo passato in seguito in altra famiglia. L'ultimo marchese di Valle Perrotta fu Cesare, dec. a Napoli, celibe nel 1904. Il 6 marzo 1910 fu decorata novellamente del titolo di marchese nella persona di Annibale. E' divisa in due
