Antigua familia Cotrone, donde disfrutó de los honores del patriciado en la sede de S. Dionigi. Berteraymo, en consideración de los servicios prestados al rey Carlos I, fue admitido en posesión de la baronía de Torre Montanari y Palena, en Calabria. Entre los personajes de esa familia cabe mencionar: Anselmo, muy claro en la historia de la ciudad de Cotrone; Carlo y Scipione eligieron nobles de la sede de S. Dionigi en 1647 y 1663; otro Carlo, capitán de tropas ecuestres; Giulio, jurisconsulto en Nápoles; otro arzobispo Carlo de S. Severino en 1678, conocido por la doctrina en derecho civil y canónico.
