Antigua y muy noble familia de Rifembergo, en el condado de Gorizia, conocida como Bersa di Leidenthal o, más simplemente, Bersa. La clara nobleza de la familia también se atestigua por la presencia, de su blasón, en el valioso trabajo de V. Spreti, "enciclopedia italiana histórico-noble". Los miembros de la familia, además, fueron reconocidos caballeros hereditarios, por el emperador Fernando I de Austria, con el predicado "von Leidenthal", a través del Diploma IR, fechado el 29 de agosto de 1840, en la persona de Giuseppe, con su legítimo descendientes de ambos sexos. Con el Decreto Ministerial de 19 de octubre de 1926, el título mencionado con el predicado fue reconocido a los dos hermanos, hijos de Giovanni y Filomena de 'Medici: 1. Giuseppe, nacido en Zara, el 13 de enero de 1862; 2. Brunone, nacida Zara el 12 de octubre de 1863. Habiéndose familiarizado con los de 'Medici de Zara,
