Família antiga e muito nobre de Rifembergo, no condado de Gorizia, conhecida como Bersa di Leidenthal ou, mais simplesmente, Bersa. A clara nobreza da família também é evidenciada pela presença, de seu brasão, no valioso trabalho de V. Spreti, "enciclopédia histórica nobre histórica italiana". Além disso, os membros da família foram reconhecidos cavaleiros hereditários, pelo imperador Fernando I da Áustria, com o predicado "von Leidenthal", por meio do Diploma de RI, datado de 29 de agosto de 1840, na pessoa de Giuseppe, com seu legítimo descendentes de ambos os sexos.
