Antica famiglia del Trentino, con residenza nella città di Rovereto. Suddetta famiglia è originaria di Tierno, la si trova stabilita in Bretonico fin dal 1477, e quindi in Rovereto, dove fu portata nel 1500 da Alvise, dottore e notaro imperiale, il quale nel 1517 fu ascritto a quel patriziato. Guglielmo, nel 1434, aveva comprato dai Veneziani il castello e le decime di Chiozzola; Francesco fu castellano e governatore di Parma nel 1571; Bartolomeo, ed Alvise, suo nipote, furono capitani in Fiandra sotto Alessandro Farnese; Giulio, fratello di Alvise, podestà di Novara; Ottavio segretario dell'Imperatore Rodolfo II; Paolo podestà di Casalmaggiore. Questa famiglia fu fregiata del titolo baronale. Lo stemma della famiglia Beta è: D'azzurro, alla fascia di porpora, accompagnata in capo da due stelle d'oro, ed in punta da un sole dello stesso.
