Family originating from Masnago in the Varese area; it is assumed to be from the same stock as the Bianchi di Velate. He added the surname of Adda by testamentary disposition of the cavalier Giorgio d'Adda, deceased around 1680, who left Giorgio heir with the obligation to assume the surname and his weapons. From these descends Antonio (born 1716) who was recognized in the nobility by decree 9 September 1772 of the IR Heraldic Tribunal, father of Gio. Battista, Napoleonic general and ancestor of other Antonio, who together with Carlo, cav. of the Order of the Sun of Persia and of the Legion of Honor, and to the other brothers he obtained confirmation of the nobility with a sovereign resolution of 21 November 1816.
