Famiglia antica che ospitò la duchessa del Chiablese, originaria di Valtournanche, poi a Chatillon, ad Aosta e a Torino. Emanuele (nato Chatillon, 25 dicembre 1800; morto Aosta, 21 agosto 1866) fu il primo barone della casata per Patenti 13 luglio 1841. Il figlio Claudio fu scrittore apprezzato di storia valdostana.
