Antica e nobile famiglia emiliana, detta Bigi o Risi, nobile in Correggio e Ferrara sin dall'antichità. Lodovico comandante di cento lancie per l'Arcivescovo di Colonia nel XVI secolo, e Anton Maria Capitano di Corazze in Francia. Un Pietro fu podestà in Bologna, Mantova, Siena e Firenze, e senatore di Roma. Un Quirino, morto nel 1880, fu istoriografo e biografo di merito. Lo stemma della famiglia Bigi o Risi da Ferrara si blasona: nel primo d'azzurro, al sole accompagnato da tre stelle d'oro; nel secondo d'oro, a due fascie di rosso. Altra famiglia. Antica e enobile famiglia di Sanasepolcro che alzò per arma: D'azzurro, a tre stelle a sei punte d'oro, 2.1, sormontate da tre gigli d'oro ordinati tra i quattro pendenti di un lambello di nero.
