Originari di Mondovì, antichi e di parte guelfa, con più signorie feudali. Tra il 1540 e il 1560 un Francesco si trasferì da Mondovì a Castagnole Monferrato, dove esercitò la chirurgia, professione che passò al figlio Bartolomeo, nato verso il 1632, laureatosi in Avignone il 25 ottobre 1653, morto il 7 dicembre 1712. Un ramo, di cui non è ben noto l'attacco, si trasferì a Chieri, dove un avvocato Giuseppe ebbe le contee di Aramengo e di Buttiglieria; un altro ramo, estinto come il precedente, fiorì in Monferrato con la contea di Terranova; da questo derivò il ramo attuale con Giacomo, padre di Gabriele, entrambi protomedici del Monferrato.
