Antica ed assai nobile famiglia di Fossombrone, ivi giunta però dalla Toscana, di chiara ed avita virtù, conosciuta come Billi o Billia, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Il nome della Famiglia, relativamente alla città di Fossombrone, risulta nel volume, conservato negli archivi dello S.M.O.M., compilato nella seconda metà del XVIII secolo per stabilire un nuovo piano per i processi dei pretendenti al grado di Cavaliere di quella Religione. Ma la famiglia risulta tra le principali di Fossombrone sin dal XV secolo, con il titolo di nobile e patrizio e dove i suoi membri ricoprirono le prime cariche civiche. Un Bernardino fu gentiluomo dell'ambasciatore veneto Giustiniani. Un Luigi Billia fu nominato cavaliere. Un Paolo fu celebre avvocato. Livio, essendosi trasferito a Fano, il 6 settembre 1783, fu ammesso di consiglio e dichiarato nobile fanese con tutta la sua discendenza. Egli nel 1819 trasportò poi definitivamente tutta la
