Famille sicilienne très ancienne et noble de Palerme avec des branches familiales réparties au cours des siècles dans différentes régions d'Italie. Le premier de cette famille noble de Palerme dont nous avons des nouvelles sûres est un Ottavio Bisso, que l'on trouve en 1579 parmi les chevaliers de l'ordre souverain de Malte et qui a fondé à Palerme, avec Marco La Cava archevêque de la même ville , la vénérable et noble compagnie de Santa Maria della Consolazione sous le titre de Paix, dont il fut premier conseiller en 1580, en 1581 et pour quatre autres fois jusqu'en 1600 gouverneur. Un Francesco a obtenu avec un privilège donné le 30 décembre 1594 appliqué le 28 avril 1595, pour lui et les siens, l'octroi du titre de Don, il était député du royaume, avec un privilège donné le 8 juillet 1582 exécuté le 9 septembre, il est nommé Protomedico du royaume
