Antica e nobile famiglia siciliana di Marsala, detta Bitino o Bitini, la quale ha sempre occupato le primarie cariche in città. Vuolsi che la famiglia Bitini o Bitino derivi da un'altra romana de' Bitini, così detti dall'impresa per essi fatta della conquista della Bitinia in Asia. In Sicilia notiamo un Rosario Bitino e Fardella che fu colonnello di cavalleria e governatore di Favignana, il quale con real biglietto dato in Napoli a 30 marzo 1752 esecutoriato in Palermo a 28 aprile 1753, ottenne il titolo di marchese sul cognome. A lui, morto senza figli, a 17 novembre 1767, succedette il nipote Mario e fu investito del titolo di marchese a 17 maggio 1769, fu giurato nobile di Marsala nell’anno 1775-76, capitano nell’anno 1798-99 e fu padre di Giuseppe, il quale ottenne investitura del titolo di marchese a 10 marzo 1804 e tenne la carica di proconservatore interino di Marsala per
