Tralasciando, perché senza alcun fondamento di serietà, quanto alcuni autori hanno scritto sulle origini della famiglia Blone alla quale hanno dato per capostipite un console romano Tito Sempronio Blone, può affermarsi che la famiglia fu nota nel Napoletano sin dall'epoca Normanna, ove occupò cariche importanti e possedette feudi e titoli, tra i quali il marchesato di Vinchiaturo; venne ricevuta all'Ordine di Malta a 12 dicembre 1578, in persona di Vespasiano; a 14 agosto 1612 in persona di Giovan Giacomo, a 29 dicembre 1664 in persona di Antonio e diede alla Chiesa alcuni Santi, tra i quali il Beato Filippo e il santo Sulpizio. Un ramo della famiglia Blone del Napoletano, passò in Genova e da questa città venne in Sicilia e precisamente in Palermo, portatavi da un Antonio nel 1506.
