Originaria della Mauritania, venuta in Bologna da antichissimo tempo. Molti appartennero al Consiglio degli anziani. Bucchino e Buono furono gonfalonieri di giustizia, il primo nel 1380, ed il secondo nel 1387. E' celebre un Achille Bocchi detto Bocche letterato del XVI secolo, cavaliere aurato e conte palatino, di cui si ànno a stampa parecchie opere di letteratura latina e italiana. Sebastiano Rinaldi Vescovo di Calcedonia, e Guardia, nel trattato che fù della famiglia Bocche Mauritania stampata in Napoli, del 1617, vi inserisce anche questa di Bologna, dicendo essere tutt'una e Achille Bocchi uomo per l'antica nobiltà e per la propria vità illustre, e famoso scrive nel libro la famiglia Bocche aver origine dalla Mauritania, e che il re di quella regione li donò l il proprio cognome arma e cimiero; questa fà dunque per arma partito: d'azzurro e di rosso, con la campagna di verde cucita, alla scala a
