Antica ed illustre famiglia di S. Pietro D’Orzio, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d’Italia. I primi riferimenti alla casata, secondo quanto riportato dal Salvetti e dal Giupponi in alcune pubblicazioni, si hanno sin dagli albori del secolo decimo sesto. Pellegrino, del Grumo, nel 1562, fu uno dei due "arbitri" nominati per la definizione di una controversia ereditaria, fra le due figlie di Vistallo Zignoni; in altro documento, e precisamente in un un atto di vendita con la famiglia Zignoni per "tutta quella quantità di legna atta et habile a carbonizzare, posta et situata nelle boschine dette della Foppa di Asen et Riva Vaga sino alli confini di Dossena", datato 29 Ottobre 1653, un Antonio viene citato insieme ad altri quattro “sindici” ed al consolo di S. Pietro d’Orzio, quale rappresentante del comune. Riferimenti alla famiglia si hanno anche in Fuipiano al Brembo
