Sin dall'anno 810 la Famigia B. faceva parte delle Famiglie ottimate di Venezia. Alla serrata del maggior Consiglio, nel 1297, venne ritenuta fra le Patrizie. Gl'individui usciti dal suo seno sostennero cariche, dignità e magistrature le più ragguardevoli del Governo aristocratico nei vari rami di pubblica amministrazione sì politica e giudiziaria che militare e diplomatica, ed ebbe Senatori, Procuratori di S. Marco, Inquisitori di Stato, Ambasciatori ec. Si ricordano: Giuseppe del fu Francesco e della nobil sig. Anna Giovanelli, nato il 13 maggio 1795, confermato nella sua avita nobiltà con Sovrana Risoluzione 11 novembre 1817, e fregiato del totolo di Conte dell'Impero Austriaco con Sovrana Risoluzioen del 10 agosto 1805. Assessore Municipale e Guardia nobile veneta; Lucrezia Benicia Maria di lui sorella, nata l'8 aprile 1797. Confermati nobili con Sovrana Risoluzione 11 novembre 1817: Pietro Paolo del fu Paolo e della nob. sign. Regina Cavanis, nato il 5 ottobre 1742,

Sur le tout tranché; a d'azur à la colombe d'argent passante sur la ligne du tranché; b d'or plein. Trois casques couronnés.
