Cette ancienne et illustre famille est venue à Venise de Bologne. En 1379, elle est divisée en seize branches, réduite à quatre en 1824. En 1351, Francesco Bon soutient diverses missions diplomatiques. Antonio vers la fin du XVe siècle était lieutenant vénitien à Chypre et, en tant que surintendant de l'armée, prit Alessio, une ville d'Albanie, et la réduisit au pouvoir des Vénitiens. Nicolò mourut en 1645 au-dessus des murs de La Canée, luttant contre les Turcs pour défendre la ville. Octave en 1551 fut ambassadeur en France auprès du roi Louis XIII, en Espagne et à Constantinople. Il a eu le privilège d'ajouter les fleurs de lys de France à son blason.
