Die Familie Bonati ist sehr alt und edel. Sie stammt ursprünglich aus der Lombardei und hat ihren Wohnsitz in der Stadt Brescia. Sie wurde im Laufe der Jahrhunderte in verschiedenen Nachbarregionen verbreitet. Die Namen ihrer Bestandteile finden sich vor allem in Kaufverträgen für Grundstücke und Häuser. Anderer Zweig. Viel alte und berühmte emilianische Familie aus Ferrara. Giovanni angesehener Maler des 17. Jahrhunderts und berühmter Theodore-Klempner Cav. der Ehrenlegion starb im frühen 19. Jahrhundert.
