Antica famiglia originaria di Cantiano, nel 1444 quando ancora i Concioli risiedevano a Cantiano, il duca Federico II volle ascrivere la loro famiglia alla nobiltà d'Urbino; e quindi nel 1524 Francesco-Maria I Della Rovere ordinò al Comune di Fossombrone che fosse ricevuta anche nel ceto patrizio di quella città. Nello stesso secolo XVI poi Antonio C. ed Angiolo di Antonio esercitarono varie volte in Gubbio la carica di gonfaloniere di giustizia. Lodovico di Giovanni fu podestà di Cagli nel 1435 e poi governatore di Assisi; Luigi Gio. Francesco, Antonio di Angelo, Girolamo d'Ascanio furono distinti giureconsulti del secolo XVI, superati però tutti nella fama da Lodovico juniore gran Cancelliere di Stato di Lodovico il Moro duca di Milano, e da quel luminare della scienza che fu Antonio di Vittorio, il celebre commendatore dello statuto di Gubbio, e la cui dottrina fu in Italia generalmente aprezzata nel secolo XVII.
