Una delle famiglie indigene ferraresi note fino dal tempo della fondazione della città. Ad essa appartenne quel Giustiniano giureconsulto del XV secolo, celebre professore di diritto nella Università di Ferrara. Estinta in casa Bonaccioli nel secolo XVII. Altro ramo. Originaria di Govi, donde venne a Genova nel 1320. Dette tre anziani dal 1348 al 1418. Pietro, console di Caffa nel 1426. Ascritta nei Cicala nel 1528. Ambrogio senatore nel 1583. Poche sono le città, che vantino famiglie nobili si antiche come quelle in Genova, poichè malgrado le vicende dei tempi essa conta ancora nel suo seno molte famiglie che provano la loro genealogia da padre in figlio mercè gli atti notarili dalla metà del XII secolo fino a' giorni nostri, vale a dire da un'epoca che serva di barriera a quasi tutte le famiglie d'Europa.
