Tale Casata annverata fra o suoi progenitori il Pontefice San Bonifacio V eletto nel 619. Nel Secolo XI, sotto i Normanni, la famiglia si segnalò nei Regni di Napoli e di Sicilia per il possesso di feudi e per titoli nobiliari. Hanno goduto nobiltà in Napoli, Messina, Scala e Filottrano, e furono decorati dei titoli di Barone, Conte e Marchese. Bartolomeo fu feudatario sotto Re Manfredi nel 1260. Goffredo fu Giustiziere di Basilicata nel 1275. Bonifacio resse la carica di Podestà in Gubbio nel 1380. Roberto fu tra i Baroni che militarono per Carlo VIII e fu creato, da questo Sovrano, Governatore e Castellano d'Oria, città che nel 1500 ebbe in feudo col titolo di Marchese. Ebbero antica sede e nobiltà anche in Macerata ed in Filottrano. I membri di tale famiglia originari di Barano e fioriti per numerose generazioni in Camerino sono un ramo della Casata che
