Fiori chiarissima di nobiltà, e di ricchezze la famiglia B. in Sicilia, e specialmente l'illustrò Gerardo B. Mastro Rationale del Regno sotto il Rè Federico terzo, il quale hebbe per moglie Giacopina di Maida, con i feudi di Fiumetorto, Raya, Sabuchitu, e li Freddi nella Valle d'Agrigento in dote, che gli successe il figlio Honofrio; dopo la morte della Giacopina passò costui alle seconde nozze con Desiata Bentisano, Baronessa di Melinventi, la Cuba,e Sparacogna, che gl'haveva comprati dal Conte Matteo Noncada e Sclafano, per onze 600. nel 1351. e nel 1364. morto il predetto Gerardo, successe in detti feudi la figlia Desiata, moglie di Giovanni Schifano di Leontini nel 1416. c'havendo anch'ella morto senza lasciar figliuoli, pervennero al fratello Honofrio B. nel 1453. Si casò il predetto Honofrio con Novella di Perno, alla quale dopò la sua morte lasciò tutti i suoi beni; perilche passò alle seconde nozze con
