Ancient family, called Boschetto or Boschetti, of which some would like Manfredo, count of Milan, who died in 8997 and indicated in an old genealogical tree as progenitor. However, the first certain information has to do with a Gherardo De B., present at a placito held by Henry V, in 1116. From this Gherardo Boschetto was born who was consul of Modena in the years 1171, 1174 and 1178. Son of Boschetto was another Gherardo, also consul of Modena in 1200. The members of this family always actively participated in the regiment of their city and distinguished themselves in the cruel and bloody struggles of the factions. They belonged to the Guelph faction called the Aigoni, of which, with the Rangoni, they were the main. In the Middle Ages, three bishops gave their homeland: Alberto (1234-1264), also venerated as Beato, Filippo (1287) and Buonadomo (1311) to various Italian magistrate cities
