Furono signori di Bosses da cui trassero il nome. Le prime memorie di quest'antica e potente famiglia rimontano al 1095 in cui Gerardo il 9 ottobre sottoscrisse come testimonte un atto conciliato fra i signori de Gignod e d'Avise. Duecent'anni più tardi, nel 1248, Pietro occupò la sede 'episcopale di Aosta. Oltre il feudo che portava il nome dei de Bosses, à questa famiglia posseduto anche quello di Quart. Il Re Carlo-Felice concesse nel 1817 a Savino, ufficiale nel suo esercito, il titolo di conte appoggiato sull'antico feudo omonimo. Lo stemma della famiglia Bosses è: D'argento, al capo cuneato da cinque pezzi di rosso.
