L'imperatore d'Austria Francesco Giuseppe con diploma dato a Vienna l'11 febbraio 1882 conferiva al dott. Guglielmo B. Fedrigotti di Belmonte, nato ad Avio nel 1823 ed ai suoi legittimi discendenti d'ambo i sessi, il titolo di barone e l'uso di un particolare stemma. Ottenne il riconoscimento di quel titolo a mezzo di D. P. 31 luglio 1926: Nicolò Maria, n. Borgo Sacco (Trento), 27 dicembre 1870, di Guglielmo e di Giovanna di Klebelsberg, spos. S. Margherita (Trento), 12 agosto 1908 con Irma Gumppenberg, da cui: Nicolaia Maria, nata Innsbruck, 13 aprile 1910. Fu costume delle più antiche famiglie, le quali dopo la caduta del Romano Imperio, in quella inondatione de' Barbari, havendo i loro cognomi, sicome gli studi, e altre cose belle smarrito e restati solo con semplici nomi, trarre di nuovo i loro cognomi, e il loro casato da' nomi proprii paterni, e de' maggiori.
