Antica e nobilissima famiglia di Parma, ove già nel duecento era assai in fiore, tanto che una sorella di papa Innocenzo IV (conti Fieschi di Lavagna) andò sposa ad un Boterius, secondo la testimonianza del cronista Salimbene. Ugo, di lei figlio, fu potestà di Pavia e prese parte con Federico II all'assedio di Parma del 1247: "et primus qui venit fuit dominus Ugo Boterius civis Parm. domini Innocentii quarti ex sorore nepos, qui cum tempore illo potestas Papiensium esset cum omnibus Papiensium venit, nec papa potuit eum ab amore Federici divellere". Si ha notizia nel 1238 di un Gerardo, forse padre di Ugo suddetto, il quale possedeva terre nel contado Parmense. Un Bonaccorso era giudice nel 1282; un Guido era avvocato del comune di Parma nel 1307 e un Grisopino era console di giustizia nel 1326.
