Questa famiglia nobile e molto antica, si ritiene sia originaria di Bologna, ed è stata del Cons. dei 400, e in ogni tempo d'uomini illustri, e in particolare Dottori alcuni de' quali hanno dato la scienza a maggior lumi della legge questa fa per impresa una botte con una Croce e due leoni rampanti uno di quà, e l'altro di là dalla croce, ogni cosa d'oro in campo azzurro. Rolanduzzo d'Altobello, morì nella guerra de' Milanesi contro Bergamaschi, Bartolo intervenne alla pace de' bolognesi con modenesi. Azzolino di Giovanni fù marito di Gualdradina di Petrizolo Manfredi; famiglia assai cognita, e antica, al qual cognome fù aggiunto anche quello d'Astrologo, del 1464. per Girolamo in tal professione famoso, 1215, Tomaso fù dott. di Fil. e Med. essendovene stati assai, Giovanni fù de' Priori Canonici di S. Petroni, 1443. Simone fù dei 50 del Credito e 1456, degl'Anziani, come Federico con altri
