It originated from Enrico Capece, called B. in 1136. Feudal lords since the time of Giovanna I, enjoyed nobility in Naples at the Capuano seat, in Monteleone, and S. Agata, and was the lady of twenty baronies. He gave four cardinals to the Church: Giacomo, who was Arciv. of Naples, created in 1378, Luigi in 1401, Giovanni in 1454, and Annible in 1550. A Lodovico was Arciv. of Naples. Andrea governor of the duchy of Amalfi and of the island of Ischia in 1328. Among the most illustrious characters we mention Giovanni, who was a cardinal. A scholarly man was martyred in Constantinople, where Pope 1154 was linked; Palamedes, ambassador to Pope Innocent IV, with Pietro Brancaccio, so that he helped Naples against Manfredi, who wanted to take it over.
