La famiglia è originaria di Montepulciano, dove Bernardino fu nel 1593 priore e nel 1597 gonfaloniere. Per avere poi mantenuto il rango distinto, contraendo matrimoni nobili e vivendo con corrispondente splendore, furono iscritti fra i nobili di Montepulciano per decreto del 24 luglio 1793. Avendo aggiunto poi per eredità il cognome della famiglia Testasecca fu loro riconosciuto per decreto, reale del 2 agosto 1898 e RR. LL. PP. dell'11 dicembre dello stesso anno, il titolo primogeniale di conte e quello di nobili di Orvieto per maschi e femmine. Ottaviano, Lucangelo e Maria Pia di Ottaviano, di Giuseppe. Figli di Lucangelo: Giuseppe, Francesco, Giacomo.
