La famiglia dei B., ora Bracciforti è tra le più antiche d'Italia e si ha memorie di un Lanfranco, prode uomo d'armi, che seguì l'imperatore Ottone II, quando nel 980 passò per Piacenza in viaggio per Roma, ma non è molto attendibile la notizia che egli fossa dal medesimo imperatore investito del feudo di Vistino e creato barone dell'impero. Un Ansando fu alfiere della milizia occidentale presso Lotario II (1125); una Mabilina fu signora di santa vita e visse sui primi del trecento; un Antelotto, domicello dell'arcivescovo di Milano nel 1344, fu orafo cesellatore insigne, restaurò il tesoro della basilica di S. Giovanni in Monza, lasciò pregevoli lavori di cesello e morì in patria circa l'anno 1390. Tra gli abati di S. Savino di Piacenza si ricorda un Giovanni di questa famiglia; un Guglielmo di Piacenza, passato in Sicilia, morì assai ricco a Catania nel 1348 ed i suoi
