A família Jonama, descendente do sangue nobre dos Orzones, adotou o nome de Brazzano, do qual possuía o senhorio feudal. Ele morreu logo após 1292 devido à morte de Bertramo, de Jonamo Jonami. Esta nobre família, como observou Giovan-Pietro Crescenzi Romani, em sua "Coroa da nobreza da Itália, ou compêndio das histórias de famílias ilustres", impressa em Bolonha por Tebaldini, era originária do Piemonte, para aprender os altos cargos e títulos que ela possuía em várias cidades. Bastante disputadas foram as notícias de sua origem e a Crollalanza em seu Anuário da nobreza italiana (ano de 1889), relata que os estudos mais modernos em torno desta casa modificaram individualmente as opiniões prevalecentes por trás da leitura de historiadores antigos da região de Friul.
