Nel nobiliario sardo, opera che raccoglie gran parte delle famiglie nobili di Sardegna, ivi compresi gli stemmari appartenute a quelle famiglie che risiedevano in quelle città. La famiglia Bresco è compresa tra le nobili di detta terra. Con diplomi in data 8 maggio 1841 il re Carlo Alberto, soddisfatto del modo zelante, attivo ed operoso, col quale il sindaco di Sassari, avvocato Giovanni Bresco compieva i doveri inerenti alla sua carica e volendogli dimostrare il sovrano gradimento, gli conferiva i titoli di cavaliere e di nobile, trasmissibili ai suoi figli e discendenti maschi da maschi. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata. Infatti l'origine del motto risale a circa il XIV secolo e deve essere ricercata in quei detti arguti che venivano scritti sui vessilli o bandiere dei cavalieri, esposti alle finestre delle locande in cui questi alloggiavano, in occasione dei
