Nobilissima famiglia di Brescia, il cui nome originario era Bettignoli; poi vennero chiamati Bettignuoli da Brescia ed infine B. Questa famiglia narra il Bonifacio onoratamente fiorì a Brescia, come da molti privilegi a lei concessi da principi. Trasferitasi nel 1326 a Treviso, ben presto si rese benemerita per le sue bellissime prerogative... per molti Cavalieri e Personaggi onoratissimi. Perciò fu compresa tra le famiglie nobili trevisane. Sebbe divisa in due rami uno denominato Bettignoli da Brescia e l'altro semplicemente B., usarono lo stesso stemma che è: D'oro, alla fascia di verde, caricata da una colomba d'argento, tra due rose di rosso. La famiglia si ritengono imparentati coi Gonzaga, annoverano una Sibilla di Bressa, moglie di Amedeo V di Savoia (nato 1249, morto 1323 ad Avignone). Ricchi a dovizia i B. affidarono ai Lombardo la costruzione, a S. Pancrazio di Treviso, di un grandioso palazzo che sembrava l'albergo di un principe;
