Illustre noblesse sortie du château de Brezons, près St-Flour. Amblard est cité en 996 et 1007. Etienne et Armand furent élus abbés de la Chaise-Dieu, le premier en 1190, le second en 1204. Autre Amblard signa la charte d'échange de St-Ilpize, conclue l'an 1201, entre Aimon de Brossadol et le Dauphin d'Auvergne. Trois chanoines-comtes de Brioude (1294-1387); un chevalier de l'ordre du Roi (1562); Guillaume bailli des montagnes d'Auvergne (1435), devient en 1438 bailli du Gévaudan; plusieurs officiers dont un capitaine des francs-archers du Rouergue et de l'Auvergne (1490); un lieutenant-général de la Haute-Auvergne (1562); un maréchal de camp; Jacques (1636). Antoine bâtard de Brezons en 1503, fut l'auteur de la branche de Neyrebrousse et de la Roque-Massebeau maintenue le 8 juillet 1667. On remarque belles alliances avec plusieurs illustres maisons.
