Die Familie Brigante Colonna Angelini ist der einzige Zweig der Colonna Signori di Gallicano, der noch übrig ist, der andere ist 1429 ausgestorben. Sie geht auf Matteo di Odoardo zurück, der sich in Tivoli niederließ, als sein Bruder Giacomo-Antonio Bischof war (1210–1219). der Bischof, auf den sich das Wunder des Heiligen Franziskus bezieht und das Giotto im Fresko in der Oberbasilika von Assisi erwähnt. Angelo, di Oddone, di Matteo, heißt B. (von brigare), ein Spitzname, der zum ersten Mal im Testament seines Sohnes Giovanni erscheint und den die Familie als Unterscheidung von den anderen Zweigen der Colonna behalten wird. - Er starb 1348 – Grabstein in S. Andrea di Tivoli. An ihn, der zusammen mit seinem Sohn Giovanni gegen Cola da Rienzo kämpfte, schrieb Papst Clemens VI. aus Avignon den von Gregorovius erwähnten Brief, in dem er sie „Domicelli Tiburtini“ nannte.
